PROFILOMETERS INTRO
 
 
Nanovea 3D Non-Contact Profilometers are designed with leading edge white
  light axial chromatism technology to obtain higher resolution surface texture
  measurements, quicker 3D metrology and more precise thickness mapping on a
  wider range of geometries and materials than any other Profilometer.
  With the use of a large range of Optical Pens the Nanovea Profilometers are
  able to obtain superior results on a wide range of applications.

PROFILOMETERS

 ST400 Optical Profiler
  The flexible, modern design of the ST400 includes: 150mm X-Y stages and a
  large coarse height adjustment to easily accommodate larger sample sizes.
  The ST400 also has an optional offset camera, with either manual or motorized
  zooms, to easily identify small features prior to measuring them. The Custom
  Profiler, a more open configuration, allows for the addition of larger X-Y stages
  to measure even larger areas, a 3600 rotational stage for measuring spherical or
  cylindrical parts, and many other custom configurations.

 PS50 Optical Profiler
  The PS50 was designed with table space and overall price in mind. Using the
  same technology and software as the ST400, along with 50mm X-Y stages,
  the high-perfomance PS50 is the ideal choice to replace stylus and laser profilers.
  The PS50 has a small footprint (30cm x 25cm) and the option of runnin on a
  laptop, which makes for an easy installation where space is critical.

 Customized Optical Profiler
  Nanovea's team of engineers have accepted many customized projects including
  a Clean Room "Class1" component capable Profiler with a custom motorized
  stages for precise flatness measurement. They have also provided a custom built
  high-speed Profiler with speeds over 30,000 points/second and machine vision
  with image recognition to improve efficiency. Additionally, Profilers have been
  built with custom scanning capabilities to acquire surface measurements from
  both the top and bottom surfaces while measuring the thickness of the material,
  all with nanometer resolution.

AXIAL CHROMATISM PRINCIPLE

 Process:
  The technique uses a ray of white light that passes through a lens
  containing a high-degree of chromatic abberation, creating a
  wavelength coded vertical measurement range. The image results
  from a specific, focused wavelength which is reflected back from the
  surface being measured. If the surface is composed of transparent
  or semi-transparent layers, the technique will be able to
  simultaneously measure two surfaces, as well as the thickness of the
  layer. Some benefits associated with axial chromatism include:

SOFTWARE INTRO

 Nanovea 3D Software
  The Nanovea 3D software is the acquisition software that is used with all Nanovea
  Profliers. The software permits the user to define the size of the area, or line, to
  be measured, as well as the lateral resolution of the measurement. The software
  also allows three different views of the measurement in real-time:
  cross-sectional, top-down and 3-dimensional views. To make it easier to find and
  measure small surfaces, a re-centering function allows the user to point-and-
  click on the scanned image in order to re-center the next scan to that specific
  point; or by use of a point-and click feature from an optional offset video camera.

 Mountains 3D Analysis Software
  Optional software package available to all Nanovea Profi lers, which provides
  a complete set of surface analysis tools. Some of these functions include:

  • User-friendly report making and editing
  • An extensive list of roughness, flatness, waviness and other surface
     parameters
  • Create 3D images in false color, contour maps and photo simulation
  • A variety of filtering, leveling and other surface correction functions
  • Ability to create templates to be applied to multiple individual measurements
  • Dimensional analysis, surface area, volume, bearing ratio and texture direction
  • Grain counting, sorting, and other grain analysis
  • Spectral analysis, autocorrelation, and fractal analysis
  • Statistical analysis over a population of results
  • Ability to export raw data, images, and entire reports

BASE INTRO

  High precision instruments for the determination of macro/micro and nano
  mechanical properties of thin/thick coatings and substrates. The tool covers
  from nanometric applications such as measuring hardness and elastic modulus
  of particles in pharmacology to high loads required to test the fracture toughness
  of hard coatings in the tooling industry.

  Our Mechanical Testers use independent force & depth sensors to obtain depth
  versus load curves used in instrumented indentation. Force feedback control loop
  allows stable high precision scratch/adhesion and wear/friction testing.

  Both the Platform and Compact Bases can retrofit a Nano Module up to 400mN,
  a Micro Module up to 40N and a Macro Module with load up to 200N to cover the
  widest range in the industry. A Non-Contact Profiler and an Atomic Force
  Microscope are available for high resolution imaging of indents, scratches and
  wear tracks in addition to allowing other profiling work such as roughness
  measurements.

BASES

 PLATFORM BASE
  The Platform Base is equipped with a full video microscope with access to a wide
  range of microscopy options. Two motorized tables, with 150mm range, and a Z
  motorized approach of more than 50mm, with a gas-spring slide for a maximum
  clearance of 140mm gives plenty of space to test larger samples. A clamp comes
  standard but other sample holders can be made custom. The base also integrates
  a position contol joypad and an emergency stop botton. The Platform Base has
  also been built to incorporate, together with the Micro or Macro Module, the Nano
  Module and the AFM Microscope Objective.

 COMPACT BASE
  Cost-effective solution with 25mmx100mm XY motorized tables, a Z motorized
  approach of 25mm. A video zoom lens is available for scratch analysis or to
  select the area of test. This model can also fit exchangeable Nano/Micro and
  Macro Modules. A Compact version without X,Y and Z motorizations is available
  for only nano-indentation work. On this version, a Z micrometer table allows
  coarse positioning of the head prior to the measurement and a X micrometer table
  allows to move at each indent.

 ERGONOMIC WORKSTATION
  An anti-vibration table is recommended for nanometric level tests. The Ergonomic
  Workstation integrates a high quality air table in addition to attached flexible arms
  for both the keyboard and the monitor. A Plexiglas enclosure, independently
  supported by the table, protects against air movement and sound waves.

TRIBOMETERS INTRO


  The highly advanced Nanovea Tribometer offers precise and repeatable
  wear/friction testing. The Tribometer was designed to allow pin-on-disk
  (standard) and linear reciprocating (optional) testing. A plexiglas enclosure
  with integrated valve allows for controlled environments during testing such
  as inert gases or certain humidity levels. The high temperature module (optional)
  is available for testing up to 1000C. An RVDT sensor can be added to measure
  the total wear of ball and sample while tracking rate of wear through time.
  The system can be delivered with speeds up to 6000rpm (standard 500rpm).
  For these high speeds, the instrument is equipped with a fast 56000Hz 24bit
  acquisition card. The Nanovea Tribometer also comes standard with motorized
  radius controlled and capability to measure torque variation during the test. A 3D
  Optical Profiler module can be integrated directly on the system for easy and
  quick wear analysis. This allows to measure the volume of material lost during
  the test and automatically calculate the wear rate. 3D Optical Profiler technology
  can also be used to measure other critical sample information, such as:
  roughness, critical dimensions, topography and full pre and post test area profile.
  Software allows users to easily control test parameters including: speed,
  frequencyand test time. To mimic a specific range of applications, custom
  Tribometers have been developed for operations at higher loads and rotational

Pin-on-Disk (ASTM G99)
  Pin-on-Disk operates on the following principle: a flat, pin or sphere is loaded
  onto a test sample with a precisely known weight which is applied to a stiff
  elastic arm. This ensures a nearly fixed contact point and thus a stable position
  in the friction track. The friction coefficient is determined during the test by
  measuring the deflection of the elastic arm, or by direct measurement of the
  change in torque. Wear rates for the pin and the disk are calculated from the
  volume of material lost during the test.

 Linear Reciprocating (ASTM G133)
  The Linear Module reproduces the reciprocating motion typical in many real-world
  mechanisms. The instrument produces a friction coefficient for both the forward
  and backward movements of the stroke. This reciprocating technique is very
  useful for studying the static coefficient of friction over time, as opposed to the
  kinetic coefficient measured with the Pin-on-Disk wear testing geometry.

CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT TESTING

Temperature (1000 ºC) (Pin-On-Disk only)
  Analysis of friction & wear properties at elevated temperatures is becoming
  increasingly important, as engineers face ever more challenging materials in
  applications such as the design of advanced fuel efficient combustion engines
  and power plants. The High Temperature Tribometer’s removable heating
  element enables the rotating disk to reach temperatures up to 800 ºC
  (1000 ºC optional), suitable for use in the study of high temperature ceramics,
  lubricants, oils, additives and self-lubricating materials.

 High Temperature (Below 300 ºC) (Linear only)
  Available for wear testing & friction testing of in-situ conditions, in a range of
  deposition technologies. This range is also ideal to study polymers just under
  their melting point. Temperatures near 37ºC are suitable for bio material studies
  of wear and friction properties under bodily fluid, such as those found in artificial
  joint applications.

 Humidity Control System
  A standard Plexiglas enclosure makes it possible to use specific salt baths to
  create various humidity atmospheres. A full humidity control system is available
  for applications requiring a higher level of control. This advanced option makes
  it possible to accurately control humidity levels, and includes a dehumidification
  and humidification apparatus in addition to the automatic humidity controller with
  sensor.

 Tri-Mode Lubrication System
  The Tri-Mode Lubrication system offers the choice of three lubrication modes:
  1) Using a low pressure pulverization module, air is compressed and filtered then
      mixed with liquid to create a uniform spray that can be directed to the
      appropriate test zone.
  2) A drop by drop lubrication with flow control.
  3) The soak option performs friction tests and wear tests under fluid in a
      specialized cup that surrounds the sample holder, allowing full submersion of
      the sample.

ENHANCED TESTING

 Electrical Resistance Contact Detector
  This option detects the first sign of substrate exposure by measuring the
  electrical contact resistance during wear and friction test. This is especially
  useful in cases where an insulating coating is on top of a conductive substrate
  directed to the appropriate test zone.
